walking on the WILD SIDE with Alvaro

a CRAZY, fun and very alive wine from a wild place and an amazing person!
Like a lot of us in the PNW, Alvaro worked in tech until he realized it was sucking out his life-force and realized he needed to get back to what he loved and what he believed in……WINE!!! more specifically, Creating living wines and letting the grapes tell their own story in a Catalan masia’s cellar (a country house and for the record, this one has been a site for wine production for over 400 years!). not only, does Alvaro follow biodynamic farming principles - every vine is truly hand’s on (like i’m not kidding - he can walk you through the vineyard and tell about each vine!). grapes are Harvested by hand (cuz duh!) and each cluster is lovingly placed in shallow, breathable crates to keep the grapes as intact as possible before reaching the masia (i might be getting carried away with the lovingly placed thing but you really should meet alvaro cuz it is pretty lovingly in this case!)
Perhaps obvious, Alvaro is firm about his winemaking philosophy - he picks a time to harvest and a type of vessel in which to ferment and/or age then lets the grape lead the way = minimal intervention the way we like it!! While that sounds simple, it takes so much attention to every detail in the vineyard and in the cellar so much courage - because he can’t go back to fix it or change anything-let alone the color or taste with chemical additives like conventional winemaking can and probably would. If you’ve ever been in the shop and seen me or Marina or Sebastiano open this wine, you already know how much we love this wine!!

GODDAMN - I LOVE Alvaro for his generous spirit and amazing kindness (for the record, i also LOVE his amazing partner-in-life, Marta, who can teach you how to dance when you truly thought you had two left feet!, is a vegetarian in Spain which takes more chutzpah than making natural wine and is the kindest, most beautiful person!!).

“Walk on the Wild Side” is truly, TRULY wild. So unexpected, crazy, OMG and wtf - all rolled into one bottle that you can't stop drinking cuz you're trying to figure it out! SO utterly vibrant, full of life, and still grounded… A wine that’s a full sensory experience and ridiculously delicious if you open yourself up to it. I won't spoil it by telling you the varietal (you'll have to come grab it/ drink it for that!) but I will tell you that if you don't get some ASAP, you'll be so sad when it's all gone! And truly - it is almost gone!
