Achillee Riesling (don't be scared!! riesling isn't always sweet!!!)

The ancients believed “that yarrow was a divine gift from the heavens bestowed upon humanity so that we could communicate with Heaven.”

Biodynamic agriculture has been a way of farming for millenia. It was really only formalized and quantified in the early 1900’s :: one a very important tenet being is that yarrow is a carrier of ‘spirit’ and brings cosmic forces into the earth.  It is vital in a extremely important preparations that works to enlive the soil. It is believed that you can never have enough yarrow on your land and “radiates” so strongly that it is providing health by just growing there. Whatever your spiritual belief system is, the truth is that yarrow is a nutrient accumulator.  Its deep roots mine the subsoil for potassium, phosphorus, and copper, making a nutrient-rich mulch that feeds the roots and creates incredible topsoil.

And guess what? ——— Achillée is French for Yarrow!!!!!

Yves Dietrich has been growing grapes in this part of Alsace organically since 1999 and biodynamic since 2003.  The sons, Jean & Pierre, came home to join their father in 2016. Jean worked with Ostertag, Deiss and Jean Paul Schmitt gaining experience and insights: Pierre has a degree in finance (he’s ready to run the biz side of tings). Bring the famiy back together, they built the largest straw building in Europe as their winery. Surrounded and supported, the family & friends have Achillée - incredible vineyards producing amazing wines

4 different soils are represented in this Riesling: sandstone, granite, schist, gravel

There is zero irrigation which allows the roots to go very deep and bring up all that minerality from the different soil types. Yields are kept low to get some ripeness and with 8-months in stainless steel, those unique soils are allowed to shine.

This is not the riesling you’ve been taught to fear - it is crisp, powerful, structured, balanced & delicious! Come try it - we’ll be pouring it in the next few days! I can’t wait to hear what you think!!
