The Vinguard

I was introduced to the Vinguard and Pamela during the pandamic. It makes me a little sad that I didn’t know about it before cuz it is such an amazing group of humans but I live in Seattle, own a small business and attempt to have some sort of a life/ work balance sooooo I guess that’s what it took and honestly, I’m so grateful to have found vinguard and this incredible community.

And I was honored to serve on a panel during WINeFARE 2020 which, in an odd way, was even more inclusive due to the virtual nature. More people could participate and they did!! So when Pamela asked if I would be interested in serving on the board, I was deeply humbled and honored so said - YES PLEASE!!! it has been so incredibly amazing to watch an incredibly diverse group of people coordinate and come together around a single mission!! and the mission ——— drum roll please:

“Our mission is to build a collaborative community in the natural wine space built around its RENEW (regenerative, environmental, natural, equitable, women) Wine program that uplifts and is driven by a diverse representation of women and non-binary genders. We believe that empowerment stems from building community, asserting agency, and independence from the hegemonic heteropatriarchal, imperialistic, white supremacist culture found in all sectors of the wine industry.”

The Vinguard is an organization whose mission is to uplift and amplify diverse women and non-binary voices to create equitable power structures in the wine industry. And with the formation of a 501(3)c, we are working on some projects that I truly believe will benefit us all. Our overhead is low and our goals are lofty but attainable!
