Our Story ::

It all started like most things do - over a bottle of wine, chatting with friends.
We were hanging out at Molly's Bottle Shop talking about holding more & bigger pop-up events, supporting local businesses, more artists - ya know, bringing people together around good wine, good food & community. All the stuff that already happens at the 200 sq ft store but with more space and a kitchen!! More opportunity for all the cool things like music, food, tastings...

And just at that moment, along came the perfect spot in the Roosevelt neighborhood.
All it needs is a little love, paint & a few chairs to create a community-driven spot that is filled with really great coffee, yummy food & natural wine all day plus retail wines, An awesome larder of house-made goods & local treasures. LOTS of special events including live music and industry nights - plus pop-ups with our friends!! MoRA is gonna be your community hang out spot. So, if breakfast sandwiches & really damn great coffee are your morning vibes - this is your spot! A glass of natural wine or NA bev (maybe a little more coffee) & a sandwich for lunch - yup, this is your spot! Wanna share a bottle with friends and have some snacks in the evening - you guessed it - this is the place for you!

Minority, women-owned business coming to you from Seattle, WA. Yup, we’re OG-Seattlelites! And together, we have 40+ years in coffee, wine and food.
The Mo of our name is Molly aka Molly Ringe of Molly's Bottle Shop
The RA is Rachel aka Rachel Skibo of Milstead

We’re so excited to introduce you to MoRA!

About Molly: It was a cancer diagnosis at 30 that put Molly on the path to natural wine. Learning about the additives allowed in conventionally made wine was sorta mind-boggling and inspired Molly's natural curiosity about what other, more pure options might be available. Turns out – there were / are a lot of underappreciated vignerons creating naturally-made beautiful wines from across the world and Molly set about bringing these lesser known and under-distributed creations to her local community. Armed with intrigue and expertise, honed in years of fine-dining restaurant experience Molly soon realized that the community that stems from like-minded folks enjoying intervention-free wines with one another was just as important as the contents of the bottles themselves – in this moment, Molly's Bottle Shop was born.

Since then, Molly has continued traveling around the world befriending and working with vignerons from Paris to Mexico and beyond, building an international family to match her local Seattle community. She brings this experience to MoRA, planning to build on the success of the Bottle Shop's small footprint to create a space that is just as natural and community driven - with a little more elbow room for activities.

About Rachel: Born and raised in Seattle, Rachel has been working in coffee in the Pacific Northwest for over 20 years. Beginning her career at Starbucks, a passion for specialty coffee led to a journey to some of the most prestigious shops in the area. For the past decade she has been working at, and eventually managing Milstead and Co. which has been featured in the Seattle Met, Bon Appetit, and Sprudge.

While working at a multi-roaster café, she seized the opportunity to taste and experience roasters all around the country, acquiring knowledge of roast profiles and seasonality. Rachel's mission is to bring this approach to MoRA - to guide & help customers learn and evolve their palates.

By going into Molly's bottle shop, she realized what it was that had spiked her interest in coffee over the past four years - sincerity, expression of place and a community that appreciates it. Learning about natural wine, opened a whole new avenue that she could only dream: how can I do both?!

About The Wild Table: With a firm commitment to sourcing close and supporting community, our partner in food is going to blow your minds. Simple food made with local, mindful ingredients taking inspiration from international experiences. Her endless love of pairing food and wine makes her ever more eager to introduce MoRA to the Seattle community. We can't wait for you to meet her!

WHERE IS YOUR MONEY GOING?

We believe firmly in equal and sustainable wages with access to healthcare for all our team members. Our hope is that by raising the necessary funds we can pay the team and provide insurance from the beginning.
In addition, we need paint, coffee supplies & plates, forks, knives, etc. etc. Food and some wine is probably gonna be needed too.
We're thrifty ladies and we've lucked into the best spot, but we do need some chairs!

RISKS & CHALLENGES:

The pandemic has taught us all many lessons.
A big reminder for us: in uncertain times, people find comfort in food, libations and community. And this team's proven ability to be nimble and think quickly while maneuvering these challenges is exactly how we plan to launch, sustain and develop this new endeavor.

Risk is inherent in a new businesses - especially one started by women as we have different and often, less access to traditional funding or peer groups stemming from money, but we believe that by combining the strong foundation of our collective experience with the support of our community (that's you!!), we're gonna be just fine!
